Baby and I went to the doctor yesterday.
Poor Dr. Sam had already been to the hospital 5 times for deliveries and it was just 3pm! Rumor had it there were 9 ladies at the hospital waiting to deliver- not all Dr. Sam's patients of course. Anyway, the wait was long but we found out we'd be having a strep test and would be checking our progress as well so it was worth the wait. Here are the details for the ladies and gents who understand the process:
Dilated: 1 fingertip
Effaced: "thin" but no % offered
Station: Zero
The doctor said with this progress already at 35 weeks he wouldn't be surprised if Little Man made his arrival right after the New Year, a few weeks early.
We're hoping to get at least to Christmas when we will be considered full term at 37 weeks. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
FYI:
Dilation:
The amount the cervix has opened in preparation for childbirth. Usually 10cm before the delivery takes place.
Effacement %:
How thin the cervix is- 100% effaced means baby is coming!
Station:
How far the baby is "down" in the pelvis. Measured in negative and positive numbers. -4 is a floating baby, 0 station is said to be engaged in the pelvis, and +4 is crowning.
