Outdoor Boy

A few weeks ago we met up with my folks, Mikie, Alicia and Meredith in IL for some camping at Rend Lake. We had a great time despite the cold nights, the pouring down rain, the falling limbs oh and ....did we mention Rend Lake is less than 60 miles from the epicenter of the recent earthquake? The kids really enjoyed each others' company. Sean learned to say "Meh Meh" for Mere and little Mere says "Seany" plain as day. Sean asked where his playmate was when we got home.....he thinks Chicago is too far away!

Sean took Grammy and Poppy mushrooming a few times this season. See the beer can size Morel he found? Oh...that was a dream we all had. No mushrooms for us, but not from lack of effort! We're not sure if we were a little too late in the season or if the weather was too wacky for a good mushroom year. Either way, like the Cubbies say "Wait til next year!"

Monkey see-monkey do. Here's a picture of Sean in my apron. I have it hanging on the oven and even though I think I've actually only put it on two or three times, he waltzed over the other day and tried to put it on himself. I helped him into it and thought he'd rip it right off. To my surprise he actually wore it around for quite a while?!?
